Hiking

I know I already posted today, but Gwen is down for another nap (her first one just didn't cut it). So anyway, I have another second to be on the computer without her pounding on the keyboard as well.

Today we went hiking up in Centerville for play group. The hike wasn't very long and it went to a really pretty waterfall. There are supposed to be two other waterfalls in the area, but we just had time to check out the one. Definitely worth the hike.

Here are the directions as best as I could remember and figure out from Google Maps:

-Drive North on Orchard Dr.
-Continue on 400 E. until the road ends at Chase Ln. (1000 N.)
-Turn Right (East)
-Turn left (North) on Oakridge Dr.
-Continue until road turns into a narrow paved (I think) road. There will be a mailbox at the bottom of this road.
-Continue up the narrow paved road until it turns into a dirt road and the park at the bend where the road doubles back on itself.
-Go by foot on the dirt road that goes down northwest the side of the mountain. I think the other one just goes to the house up above.
-Follow the dirt road until you see the creek on the right. The trail starts there at the rock with the graffiti on it.

There were some steep parts that would be a little sketchy for a kid. All of our kids were little enough to be in backpacks. There was a place you could cross the creek and a trail on the other side that might not be as steep, but we just stayed on the left side of the creek. My friend said that further up the road there is a trail to another waterfall.

Pillowcase DressesI was showing my friend Chelsea how to make these dresses you make out of pillowcases and had left out some of the examples. Later that day Gwen found them and had apparently learned a new word because she held them up to herself and said quite clearly, "Cute!"

This is the dress we made together. Chelsea did a really good job picking out the material because it turned out stinkin' cute.

Pigging Out

I'm teaching my child such good eating habits in her early youth. She is licking the beaters I used to make chocolate frosting. Not only that, she is also standing on our kitchen chair.

Play Group

For play group this week we went to the children's mueseum at the Gateway. Here are some pictures.

It looks like she's going a lot faster than she really was. Her hair is sticking up because she slept on it weird and I didn't have time to fix it before we left.

Miraculously, all of the kids in our group were playing in one spot, but of course none of them are looking at the camera and poor Kate's head is completely covered by some girl's hand.

The water was definately the most captivating for Gwen--she could have spent hours just in this one spot.

To appease the throngs

Sorry I don't update my blog very often, but if I had done anything even remotely exciting in the last few weeks or had any gems of wisdom or wit, I assure you, I'd let you all know about it. But for the time being, here are some pictures.

Last Sunday we went for a stroll around temple square. It was really beautiful. Although, a lady in a red shirt kept getting in the background of all our pictures. Maybe her parents didn't take any pictures of her as a kid and so now she hangs out at temple square so she can get into other people's precious baby pictures. I don't know, but I think she needs some serious help. I thought she was only in three pictures, but after further review, I found her trying to sneak into a fourth. If you look really closely at the first picture, you can see her chest entering into view on the right. Luckily, we can crop most of them.
