Lisa's visit

My sister Lisa came to visit a few weeks ago. We had a great time. It was nice to have an excuse to get out and do some things.

We have this reservoir that is like 20 minutes from our place that I didn't even know existed until this summer. Crazy. Anyway, we went there to swim and frolic and have some dinner, but we didn't quite get to the requisite s'mores because we had to get Ira home for bedtime. (I'm a bit neurotic about keeping a sleep schedule and Ira has the annoyingly early bedtime of 6:30. I'm trying to move it back, but I haven't been able to succeed in getting him to sleep as long with a later bedtime.) Jake whipped out the grill and we were good to go. Also, the chocolate had already melted in the warm sun, so all we had to do was squeeze it out onto the graham (I hate it when it doesn't melt all the way).
This place in Elk River has great huckleberry ice cream, but whatever you do don't ask the locals if huckleberries are the same thing as blueberries. The cashier we asked was like, "Ohhh, no, no, no, honey! Here let me show you a picture of huckleberries," as she pulls this picture that looks exactly like blueberries. A local man in line is just shaking his head like, how could you even ask that? We apologized for our grievous error and went out on the walkway to eat our tasty blueberry--I mean huckleberry ice cream.
While hiking around Elk Creek, Lisa was kind enough to pack around my heavyweight Ira, who is only a few pounds shy of little Gwen. But isn't he cute? I don't think it's possible to keep a normal facial expression while trying to take the picture yourself holding it out in front of you. I really made a conscious effort to try to look normal in this one, but it just wasn't happening. Jake would have come but he was hard at work at his summer externship at the city attorney's office here, which by the way, is done tomorrow. I'm excited that he will be able to play for the rest of the summer until school starts up again. That is all for now.

Thanks for coming Lisa!
